SWW1A Wrestling SOP’s

 

1.     WIAA registered officials must be used for all matches.

2.     Dual Matches:

3.     Weigh-ins at 5:00 PM

a.      Follow NFHS weigh in procedures.

4.     Match start time:

a.      Junior Varsity:      6:00 PM

b.     Varsity:                 Not to start before 6:30 PM, Except for Double Duals which have a 6:00PM varsity start. Accepted at 10/25/06 league meeting.

5.     A doctor or emergency medical aide is requested to be in attendance whenever possible. The home medical person shall be encouraged to check with the visiting coach after the match to make sure that there are no serious injuries.

6.     The wrestling sub-regional tournament shall be a double elimination tournament with the exception of pigtails when necessary.

7.     The home team selects the order of teams for double dual wrestling.

 

 

 

 

 

SWWA 1A   Sub-Regional Tournament Seeding Guidelines

 

1.     All wrestlers score team points.

2.     Wrestlers from the same team may not wrestle each other in the first round.

3.     Top eight wrestlers will be seeded whenever possible with a maximum of two per school. Two wrestlers from the same team will be seeded if there is criteria.

4.     If a total number of wrestlers in a weight class exceed sixteen, a pig-tail will be used for tournament entry. The procedure will be:

a.      Seed top eight wrestlers

b.     Place wrestlers to draw

c.      Pig-tail remaining wrestlers

5. Wrestlers may not be moved to a different weight class after the weight class has been seeded.

8.     Replacement of a wrestler will be allowed for injury or illness only, when documented by a doctor. If a wrestler is pronounced ineligible because of a school or other rules, a wrestler who is not already in the tournament may replace him.  If a replacement will be entered into the tournament the tournament director will be notified prior to the weigh-in.

9.     Replacement of a seeded wrestler will be done by moving lower seeded wrester upwards.The procedure will be:

a.      If the replacement is seedable, he will be seeded where appropriate.

b.     Individual coaches shall have the option to accept or reject the movement of a seeded wrestler.

c.      When needed, an unseeded wrestler will be drawn to insure an even distribution of paired quarter-brackets and half-brackets.

10.                        Every wrestler shall have an equal opportunity to draw for a bye.

 

11.                        Seeding Criteria:

a. Head to head. In case of even split, the last meeting shall take precedence. If odd number of matches, most wins determines seeding.

b. Common opponents.

c.  Last year’s post-season placement.

d. Coin Flip.
