1A League Fastpitch SOP’s

  1. The yellow optic softball will be used at J.V. & Varsity level.
  2. Game Times will be 4:00 PM
  3. The home team will call in case of inclement weather, bad field conditions and /or postponement of the game.  They should call as soon as possible.
    1. Varsity league games will be made up by mutual agreement of Athletic Directors.
    2. The League President will serve as the final authority for arbitration regarding make-up of league Fastpitch games
  4. The home team will take infield first, beginning one half hour before game time.  Each team will be allowed 15 minutes for infield.  The field will be available one hour prior to game time.
  5. Live batting practice will be allowed off the playing field.   Teams will not use regulation balls during batting practice.  Once teams take the field, only whiffle balls or lite flight balls may be used for batting practice.
  6. All single league games are seven innings for Varsity and JV.   Double headers will consist of two seven inning.  JV games will have free substitutions.
  7. The international tie-breaker will be used after the 8th inning.  The last batter of the previous inning will be placed on second base to start each inning. 
  8. Ties in league standings will be broken by the adopted tie breaker methods.  Should the regular season end with schools playing a different number of league games, the final standings will be decided by the number of wins, not percentage. 
  9. [CALLED CONTEST] If weather or darkness interferes with play so that the game is called (ended) by the umpire, it is a regulation game (complete) if five full innings have been played, or it the home team has scored a greater number of runs in four or four and a fraction turns at bat than the visiting team has scored in five turns at bat.
    1. [CONTINUING A SUSPENDED GAME] Any game that is interrupted with teams having played less than the required number of innings (5) will be continued from the point of suspension.  The line-up and batting order of each team shall be exactly the same as the line-up and batting order at the moment of suspension, subject to the rules governing the game.
  10. [MERCY RULE]  The ten run Mercy Rule will be in effect at five (5) completed innings.  When one team is ten runs ahead.  The fifteen-run Mercy Rule will be in effect after three (3) complete innings when one team is 15 runs ahead.

  12. Evergreen Only. For league play double headers, the school hosting the game will be the home team in the first game and the traveling team will be the home team in the second game. (In Trico the home team will be the host team as we are now playing league games at both sites)
  13. Trico only: We will play the double header first and the single game second in the same week. If the first game of the double header is not completed then it will be rescheduled at the original site on the next available date. If the second game is started and then suspended, then this game will be completed at the site of the single game prior to the start of the single game.
